As we are living in an ever-changing world of increased tariffs and retaliatory tariffs, we'd like to keep you updated on all the notice from USTR regarding Section 301 tariff. Please see below a recent notice of modification of Section 301 tariff action:
Tariff hikes on Section 301 (Chinese Tariffs), List 4(a and b) that were announced by President Trump over the weekend have been confirmed in a notice from the Office of the United States Trade Representative. New tariffs, which begin September 1st and December 15th, will now be 15% additional duty. This is an increase from the initial announcement of 10%. The notice was posted by the USTR on 8/28 and is scheduled to be published on 8/30, just ahead of the 9/1 implementation date.
List 4a (September 1st) includes televisions, Bluetooth headphones, and smartwatches. List 4b (December 15th) includes toys, clothing, laptops, and cell phones (among other items).
A separate notice will be issued that addresses a planned increase from 25% to 30% additional duty for Lists 1-3, which covers $250 billion in goods.
