The 7,500 teu vessel caught fire off Canada’s east coast on January 4, likely sparked from misdeclared cargo in a container. The fire quickly spread forcing the crew forced to evacuate and took two weeks to douse.

Hapag-Lloyd said it is currently working on a solution to transship the discharged containers while planning to keep the undamaged cargo onboard the vessel, which will depart Freeport once repair work is finalised.

The vessel’s final port of call has yet to be confirmed.
